How do you track your credits?

When you purchase your meal, check the bottom of your receipt and you should be able to see how many credits you have left in your plan. You can also ask a resort concierge or someone from Guest Relations and they should be able to help you. Personally, we’d love to see you be able to see how many you have within the My Disney Experience app. One day maybe.

When is Free Dining offered and is it worth it?

Okay. this could probably be a blog post in and of itself, but let us give you the short answer for now. The truth is, no one really know exactly when it will be or when it will be announced. Usually, the Free Dining promotion is offered during non-peak times in the Fall. With that being said, it seems that in these last few years, the dates offered have been getting fewer and the crowds have been getting larger.

So is it worth it? Yes and no. Free dining sounds great, but Disney usually ups the price of the rooms in order to offset the costs. You are getting some meals free, but it may not be as cheap as you might expect it to be. In fact, you might even get a better deal with some of the other promotions offered during other times of the year. Free dining is a great promotion, but just be aware that everybody else knows about it too and will be booking in that time of year as well.

Shouldn’t I get the Deluxe Dining Plan? After all, don’t I need 3 square meals a day?

Yes. you need 3 square meals a day…or so my mom always told me. Do you need the Deluxe? It depends on what you want to do. If touring the parks and seeing and doing everything Disney has to offer at the parks is a priority, I would suggest that you scale back to the Disney Dining Plan instead of the Deluxe. Stopping to eat for 3 meals a day can seem like you’re doing nothing but eating, especially with the portions and dessert you get with each meal. Personally, I like to use my credits for lunch and dinner, but bring a granola bar or something to eat on the way to the parks for breakfast. That way I can be there for rope drop and get to my first thing on my list ASAP.

Is gratuity included in the Disney Dining plan?

Nope. You’ll need to tip your server at the Table Service Restaurants. Also, if you have 6 or more in your party, there will be an automatic charge of 18% gratuity added to your bill.

Who can get the Disney Dining plan?

The DDP is available to anyone who books a Magic Your Way package or who books with DVC (Disney Vacation Club) points. If you stay offsite, unfortunately you won’t be able to book a Disney Dining plan.
